From pop culture to campuses, there’s been no shortage of discussion about the preva- lence of sexual violence. Too often, however, the focus has been on the actions of the victims, rather than talking about perpetrators and the bystanders that enable them.
Youth are highly vulnerable to being victimized and engaging them in meaningful dialogue is incredibly important. But engaging youth can be difficult, since so many things compete for their attention. How do you break through the noise and get them invested?
Using a harm-reduction approach, Draw-the-line.ca offers a variety of real-life scenarios that serve as a launching point for discussion on how bystanders can intervene when they witness sexual violence. By focusing on strengths and empowerment, the campaign gives youth practical tools for making a difference in their schools, campuses and communities.
